Is it possible to putt, "straight back and straight through?"  

Yes, but to do it, you have to manipulate your putter by...

Bending your arms,  twisting your wrists, or moving your body.

And this causes all sorts of problems such as...

Cutting across the ball...

Opening or closing the face...

Lofting or de-lofting the face...

Or, all of the above!

The Tour Path was invented by my good friend, and 30-year golf professional, Clinton Schmaltz.

Before he became a "Class A" teaching professional at The Willows Club in Saskatoon...

He dabbled playing professional golf on tour.  

It was at a tour event in Turkey that he observed fellow pros practicing their putting using a "chalk line."

He watched as one after another tried to "trace" the line using a "straight back, straight through" putting stroke...

And one after another, they struggled to do it.  

They were manipulating their hands and bodies...but none of them could trace a straight line with any consistency.

Intrigued, he went back to his hotel room and started watching slow-motion videos of the greatest putters in the world...

And sure enough, he saw that...

A natural putting stroke does not move "straight back and straight through."

It moves in an arc.

That was the "aha" moment that led to him inventing the Tour Path.
